Extreme Programming Practices - Standup Meeting
Each day, the team gathers for a very short meeting to discuss the current situation on the project. For this meeting, everyone stands in order to avoid long detailed discussions. This is the Standup Meeting, and is used to allow everyone to keep their finger on the pulse of the project. Attendance for this meeting is mandatory, but it is quite limited in length.
During the meeting each team member speaks in turn, talking about what they did yesterday, what they're doing today, and what if any obstacles are holding them back. Each person should only speak for 30 seconds to a minute, keeping things as brief as possible. Any issues raised should be discussed outside of the standup meeting.
The intention of this very limited discussion is to allow the entire team to know who is working on what, and how they're progressing. Despite its brevity, the standup meeting provides an amazing level of information to the team.
